Robert Charles Reis, 60, passed away suddenly on December 2, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. Born on December 11, 1964, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Robert lived a life grounded in dedication to his family and his work.
He began his career as a Line Clearance Tree Trimmer shortly after graduating high school in 1984. On December 18, 1995, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 17 (IBEW Local 17), remaining a proud member for 29 years. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft, Robert took pride in supporting both his family and community through his labor.
Above all else, Robert was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Claudia Reis, Odessa Reis, and Roary Reis; and by his beloved grandchildren, Anastasia, Samuel, and Violet. His love for them was evident in the time they spent together—especially during summer trips to the beach. Whether diving into the waves at Panama City Beach in Florida or enjoying the shores of Ocean City Beach in Maryland, Robert found joy in creating lasting memories with those he held dearest.
He also cherished time spent outdoors with his family in Benezette, Pennsylvania. There they would camp and kayak along the Medix Run. Robert frequently visited Benezette not only for recreation but also to spend meaningful time with his father and lend a helping hand around the property.
Robert's affection extended beyond his family to animals as well. He had a soft spot for cats and dogs. In quieter moments, he enjoyed reading books and watching old films—simple pleasures that reflected his thoughtful nature.
He is also survived by his father, Frederick Bertram "Bert" Reis; his brother, John Reis; and his nieces, Alexandra Reis Ferut, and Allie Reis. The bonds of family were central to Robert's life.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Janis Schmidt; his sister, Karen Argyle; and his brother, Frederick "Rick" Reis.
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a proud father and grandfather, and as a brother and friend whose presence filled moments with laughter and strength. His memory lives on in every shared story at family gatherings, every ripple on Medix Run's waters, and every wave crashing onto sunlit shores.
