Robert (Bob, The Whale) Schneider passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, and four children – Bob (Eryn), Allie (Kevin), Mike (Taylor) and Joe (Mancy). He answered to “Papa” to his sweet grandsons, Will and Drew.
Bob was a big guy with an even bigger heart. Before having kids of his own, he spent so much time with his nieces and nephews ‘opening the pool’, playing sports, wrestling, and just being the best ‘Uncle Bob’ and ‘The Whale’ that everyone loved. When finally having children of his own, he leaned into everything there is about being a Dad: school projects, car-pooling, birthday parties, coaching, and chocolate-chip waffles. Being a Dad came naturally to him. He was kind, protective, strong, and always willing to help anyone in need. He also taught his children how to drive (well, before legally acceptable), how to care for your parents (literally tons of leaves raked), and that ‘nothing good happens after midnight’.
Bob felt completed by the best wife, mother, and love of his life, Debbie. They spent an amazing life together from childhood to adulthood. He was the best ‘sous chef’ to Debbie’s ‘masterchef’, as they fondly expressed their love through so many amazing meals.
An avid Chicago-sports fan, he was as loyal as they come. He loved to watch the Sox (also hate-watch the Cubs), follow those Blackhawks, and of course, watchin’ Da Bears. Through his love of sports, he was an awesome coach and fan to his four children. From basketball to wrestling, volleyball to soccer or baseball, he was able to instill his values of discipline, teamwork, and commitment to his kids. He was their number one fan. Period.
Bob battled illness towards the end of his life, but Debbie was right by his side; taking care of him and ensuring he had the best life. Bob will always be remembered as a light-hearted, fun-loving man who loved his family fiercely and his amazing wife even more…and GO BEARS
