With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert J. Schumacher, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, leader, and friend, who passed away peacefully surrounded by love after bravely battling cancer.

Robert lived life fully and fearlessly. Known for his adventurous spirit, he embraced every opportunity to explore and enjoy the world around him. Whether he was on the golf course, sharing laughs and friendly competition, or out on the water boating—one of his greatest passions—he was truly in his element. Never at a loss for words, he could envelope anyone in a lively conversation, especially when it came to his grandchildren. Being a "Papa" was his greatest joy.

A natural leader, Robert was someone others instinctively turned to for guidance, strength, and steady support. He was the proud owner of Under the Roof Improvements, where his hard work, integrity, and leadership left a lasting impact. He built not only a business, but strong relationships and a reputation that reflected who he was at his core.

Above all, Robert was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Schumacher, whom he married on August 16, 1980; his daughters, Krystyna O'Donnell (Patrick O'Donnell) and Laura Christensen (Robert Christensen); and his cherished grandchildren, Autumn Christensen, Liam Christensen, and Ella O'Donnell. His family was his greatest pride, and he gave them unwavering love, support, and guidance.

He is also survived by his siblings: E. David Schumacher Jr. (Jill Doughty), Paul Schumacher (the late Susan Reyes), Carole Schumacher, Jane Sirignano (Larry Sirignano), Hazen Schumacher, and Elle Schumacher.

Robert will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and the way he made everyone feel welcome and valued. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Robert's legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the memories shared, and the love that will never fade.

"May the fairways be wide, the waters calm,
and the sun always warm upon his face.
Until we meet again"

A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Friday, May 15th, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lochmoor Club (1018 Sunningdale Dr, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236). Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor his life.
