Robert Allen Shannon, 77, of Catawba, Ohio affectionately known as "PIB Bob" to many and "GB" to his beloved grandchildren, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was a dear father, grandfather, and friend whose warmth, kindness and humor touched everyone he met.

Bob was born on March 30, 1948 in Berea, Ohio to the late John and Catherine (Harmon) Shannon and younger brother to the late John (Jack) Shannon Jr. Bob is survived by his former wife of 25 years, Ruth (Johnson) Vanke and their three children: Michael Shannon of Cleveland, Ohio, Mark Shannon of Westlake, Ohio and Michele (Shannon) Swindell (and her husband Jade) of Medina, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Grace, Nathan, Marek, Justin, Ava, Evan, Finn, and Ben; Sister-in-law Marlene Shannon of Madison, Ohio, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished the moments spent with them.

Bob graduated from Brecksville High School in 1966. A proud veteran, Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972, carrying the values of service and camaraderie throughout his life. Bob dedicated over 30 years of his career to Stouffer's in Solon, Ohio, where his hard work and loyalty were admired by colleagues. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter in Broadview Heights, Ohio for over 15 years, always ready to lend a helping hand and protect his neighbors.

After retiring in 2003, Bob relished in island time happiness on Put-in-Bay, where he was known for his friendly spirit, love of good times, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. Bob worked for a few years at the island's state park, always enjoying outside yard work and meeting new friends.

A private cemetery memorial will be held with family and a festive celebration of life for all Bob's family and friends will be held at Put-in-Bay next spring (Bob specifically requested we wait until the weather is warm and the ferry boats running full time, he always hated cold weather!)

Bob's legacy lives on in the laughter, stories, and memories shared by those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. In the words of Warren Zevon, "Keep me in your heart for a while."
