1940 - 2026

Robert Lamar Strickland, lovingly known as "Papa Bob," was born on March 26, 1940, in Union, Mississippi, to Arthur (Lloyd) Strickland and Mary Belle (Langdon) Strickland. He was one of eleven children, growing up in a large family that helped shape his strong values and work ethic.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1965, a period of his life that reflected his sense of duty and commitment.

Robert passed away on March 29, 2026, due to heart failure, in his home in Liberty Hill, Texas, surrounded by his wife, his daughter, and his son-in-law.

On January 11, 1964, Robert married the love of his life, Arlene (Caudle) Strickland. Together, they built a life centered on family, dedication, and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to three children: Linda Loving, Hope Strickland, and Bobbi Chock.

Robert dedicated 30 years of hard work to The Ford Motor Company before retiring, and he was a proud member of the United Auto Workers (UAW). He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

Robert was a cherished grandfather to ten grandchildren: Chase Akins, Ava Warren, Ashley Whitman, Nicole Lacourte, , Katy Pacino, Joseph Lacourte, Morgan Lacourte, Noah Chock, Izaya Chock, and Zoe Chock; and a great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren. His family was his greatest joy, and he took pride in the legacy he helped create.

Known affectionately as "Papa Bob," Robert had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Whether it was repairing something broken or working tirelessly in the yard, he found purpose and satisfaction in staying busy and lending a helping hand. He was a very kind person who was always helping others, never hesitating to give his time, skills, or support to anyone in need.

Robert will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his kindness, his service to his country, and the steady, dependable presence he provided throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
