Robert H Waterhouse, of Duxbury, MA, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the Pat Roche Hospice House in Hingham surrounded by his family. The only child of Richard Lee Waterhouse and Genevieve Garran Waterhouse, Bob was born and raised in Boston, with summers in Mattapoisett and Camp Belknap on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Bob was a lifelong learner and enthusiastic student who loved to take tests. He attended the Boston Latin School, graduated from Dedham High School, and earned a degree in Economics at Wesleyan University in 1959. At Wesleyan Bob enjoyed singing in the Glee Club, playing squash and being a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. After college he pursued an MBA at Babson and went on to earn a master's in landscape architecture at the University of Michigan. Bob also earned his real estate license and his Captain's license.
Bob spent his career in the insurance industry, first at the Insurance Company of North America and then Aetna Life and Casualty where he earned his CLU and ChFC. At Aetna Bob served as General Agent in the Providence and Boston offices and subsequently held the position of Marketing VP at Commercial Union Insurance in Boston.
In 1965, Bob married Bonnie Campbell at the Mary Martha Chapel in Sudbury, MA. They were married for almost 60 years and were residents of Duxbury, MA for 44 years, with a brief stint in RI where they raised their children. They also recently enjoyed living in Venice, FL, for seven years.
Bob was an avid gardener and dedicated parishioner at St. John's Episcopal Church in Duxbury, MA. He was happiest on the water and loved all it had to offer, including sailing, fishing and clamming. He enjoyed many summers driving the launch at Bayside Marina in Duxbury. Racquet sports were Bob's favorite; he played tennis, squash and racquetball throughout his adult life. He and Bonnie thoroughly enjoyed traveling around Europe, the Caribbean, and the United States, with memorable trips to Portugal, France and Hawaii. They cherished their annual vacations on Nantucket with their good friends from Barrington, RI.
Bob is survived by his wife Bonnie of Duxbury, MA, daughter Amber Waterhouse and her daughters Lydia and Betsy Gross of Cohasset, MA, and son Campbell Waterhouse, his wife Glowyn, and their son Atticus.
