Send Flowers Plant A Tree
94 years of age, died peacefully on Monday September 22, 2025, under the caring staff of the United Zion Retirement Home in Lititz, PA.

Roberta Fay Barber was born in Bath, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Allen Scheffler and Pearl (Leigh) Scheffler. She was predeceased by brothers Gerald and Donald Scheffler.

She was the wife of the late William S. Haberern of Whitehall PA. Roberta and William raised three children together, enjoyed nine grandchildren and was graced with one great granddaughter. She was predeceased by her daughter Kim Stone of Beverly Massachusetts. Bertie is survived by Kim's husband, Dick Stone and grandson Zachary Stone, by her son Keith Haberern of Collingswood New Jersey, his wife Karen Haberern, granddaughters Dana and Lorena Haberern, by her son Kent Haberern of Lititz Pennsylvania, his wife Lisa Haberern, and grandchildren Kayla ALawama and her husband Ahmad, Sarah Haberern, Jesse Haberern, Allegra Haberern and great granddaughter Tarzanna, Alyssa Haberern and Shayna Haberern.

She also was overjoyed to know that Kayla is due with another great granddaughter in December. She was Nana to the grandchildren, and Great Nana to Tarzanna.

Roberta kept her title as Aunt Bertie and maintained lifelong relationships with her extended family and all her late husband's family.

Mrs. Haberern took considerable pride in receiving her undergraduate degree from Ursinus College in 1953 and a master's degree in 1980 from Kutztown State College. Roberta began her teaching career at Oley Valley High School, teaching English, German, and Latin. She went on to teach English at Northampton. Most of her career was as a Title 1 reading teacher, as well as a German teacher for Whitehall-Coplay School District, bringing the joy of reading and foreign language to many a student.

She was an active member at St. John's UCC Church in Fullerton and participated in church events as well as singing Soprano in choirs at her home church as well as both Luther Crest and the United Zion Home.

After William passed, Roberta stayed active. She took joy in her travels all over the United States and Europe, taking others on tours to Germany. She also hosted tours to local areas as well, including Bethlehem and Lancaster. Furthermore, Roberta hosted groups to Germany and brought Germans to the States through the Pastorius Haus Association. She was quite the adventurer in her later years, enjoying trips to deserts, canyons, ghost towns, and glaciers - wherever she could find excitement. Roberta took a summer long self-guided tour of Canada, driving a moped as her mode of transportation. She found the best mountain overlooks, slid into salt mines, and raced down bobsled tracks when traveling through Europe.

Bertie always had a way of getting friends and family involved in her antics and would boastfully reminisce about each event into her dying days.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 18, 2025 in Saint John's UCC Fullerton at 6th and Grape Streets in Whitehall, with interment to follow in Egypt Cemetery. Preceding the Service, visitation will begin at 10:00 am in the Church Parlor.
