Robin Backstrom was born on October 13, 1941, in Queens, New York. He was the son of Rudolph L. Backstrom and Kathleen R. Williamson Backstrom. He had two older stepbrothers, Bob and John Backstrom.
Robin graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, MD and decided to venture westward. He got a job in 1964 for Texaco Oil Company in Los Angeles, CA and was transferred to Denver in 1989. He spent about 35 years at Texaco. He loved the oil business and made many lifelong friends while there.
While in Los Angeles he met his wife, June Kasper Backstrom. They married in 1970 and spent 55 years together. They had two children, Jason John and Kara Lee.
Robin was an avid golfer, advanced scuba diver and slow pitch softball player. He loved going to warm places where he could play golf all week. He also loved to play poker and was unbeatable at Trivia. Along with his sporting abilities he was President of two large HOA's and helped facilitate many needed projects. He was well respected and loved helping people. He had a great sense of humor and made people laugh. Robin had a story for everyone and would ask a stranger wherever we were "Where are you from?", and that started a story.
Robin was preceded in death by his stepbrothers. He is survived by his wife, June, and their children: Jason John Backstrom of Parker, CO, and Kara Lee Dar (Avi) of Denver, CO. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Karen Krause in Ohio and nieces and nephews.
