Robin Scharbach Steele

1980 - 2026

Robin Scharbach Steele was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 19, 1980. A sprightly child, Robin made friends easily, from the deep friendships with his neighborhood buddies to lifelong friends he made during his school years, and later in every path of life. He carried this quality with him throughout his lifetime and was always a connector within his groups of friends.

As a young adult, Robin took an interest in weight lifting which led to a lifetime of upkeeping his health and wellness. His dedicated work ethic started young with jobs as a paperboy, neighborhood lawn mower, a caddy at SCC, and as a teenager a job at Lexus of Toledo where he later advanced to service manager. He served in the US Air Force reserve where his strength and dedication were met with recognition.

When he decided on a career change, he tenaciously made his way through a college degree and clinicals to begin work in the University of Michigan Echo Cardio department. He later moved into the medical device field. He travelled the country on an exhaustive schedule to assist in educating surgeons at top hospitals with new technologies for cardiac patients and was present during the procedures. This field was a perfect match for his loving devotion to help others and unending flexibility in doing so - often travelling to multiple states and changing schedules at the drop of a hat to make newly scheduled surgeries. His work was instrumental in saving lives and he took this duty with the utmost responsibility and respect for the patients. His coworkers regarded him highly and admired his professionalism and dedication and these qualities were evident to those who heard him speak about his work.

Anyone who met Robin immediately experienced his loving nature. He was a man who took people for who they were without judgement. He gave without asking. He loved without questioning. His intentions were kind-hearted. Many were touched by his willingness to give of himself without asking in return. He forgave easily. He was ambitious and was always able to bounce back from hardships. This admirable quality requires a strength that he exemplified over and over again. He was a voice of encouragement to those around him, and his friends and family could rely on his kind words, honest presence, and a heartfelt hug at any time they needed it.

Robin’s greatest joy in life was his children and his most important role was as a father. He adored his daughter Mila (7) and Marsden (5). His loving nature shined brightly in fatherhood. From the time they were babies, he took to the role of fatherhood with a natural sense of ease. He confidently made every decision for their best interest and always brought a devotion to being the best father he could be in every situation. His children adored him and came near for his physical affection and fun-loving play and they benefited from his sense of order and routine. He made time with his children intentional, and often took them to metroparks, fun destinations, and social outings. He genuinely enjoyed being with Mila and Mars and took pride in the people they were. His positive outlook presented as a father who spoke life into his children’s admirable qualities. His compliments were met by their sparkling eyes and beaming smiles.

On March 19, 2026 Robin was tragically and instantly lost when a drunk driver crossed the center line and collided head on into his vehicle. He was on his way to the University of Michigan for work.

Robin is survived by his parents Michael and Vicki Steele, his sister Rachel (Kamran) and their children, Jolie (Rudy), his niece and nephew Rosie and Rhys, and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins who played an instrumental role in shaping him into the man he was.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 25 at 12:30pm at Christian Fellowship of Toledo, followed by a gathering at one of Robin’s favorite restaurants, Nick & Jimmy’s from 2-5 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to his children’s college funds using https://gofund.me/7c7b68363
