Rochelle I. Walker, 68, of Gary, Indiana, peacefully transitioned on April 11, 2026.
Born on December 31, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, Rochelle was a gentle and kind-spirited soul who found joy in life's simple pleasures and walked in the light of the Christian faith. She carried herself with quiet strength and grace, embracing each season of life with resilience and love.
She was married in 1978 and was the proud mother of two children, James H. Walker III, born in 1978, and Angela S. Walker, born in 1982. She also pursued her studies in surgical technology with determination and purpose.
Rochelle was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Gladney; her father, Lloyd Blanks; and her sister, Loyce Jean Blanks.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, James H. Walker III; her daughter, Angela S. Walker; her grandchildren, Britteney Walker and June Walker, children of James H. Walker III; her sisters, Annette Peterson, Valerie Palfrey, Joellen Holloway, and Dolores Blanks; her brothers, Lloyd C. Blanks Jr., Leroy Blanks, Gerald Blanks, and Steven Blanks; and a host of other relatives, dear friends, and loved ones.
A visitation will be held on April 27, 2026 Wake at 9:30 a.m., followed by Funeral Services at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Church of God, 1069 Fillmore Street, Gary, Indiana.
Though she has taken her rest, her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever be cherished.
May the Lord grant her eternal rest and surround those who loved her with comfort, peace, and abiding strength.
