Ron Atkins

Ron Atkins of Boise, Idaho died at home, cared for by his daughter Stephanie (Riley) Mahaffey, on September 25, 2025.

Ron was born on July 3rd, 1940 in Boise, Idaho to Loretta M. "Rita" Atkins and Robert L. "Chance" Atkins. He grew up in Boise with his five siblings, Benita, Jack, Mickey, Randy and Lee. He is survived by his three children, Troy (Amy), Bryan (Pamela), and Stephanie (Riley) and five grandchildren, Brandon, Dustin, Harper, Aaron, and Grace.

Ron formed an electrical contracting company, A&B Electric, in 1968. His great love was the Polly Bemis Ranch, which he co-founded as a cooperatively owned resort in the early 1990s. Ron will be remembered there for his efforts to save the cabins in 2000, when a wildfire threatened the historic property. Today, the Atkins family and friends continue to enjoy the "Ranch" in the beautiful Frank Church Wilderness.

Ron, a committed parent and grandparent, enjoyed opportunities to gather with family. He collected comic books, valued the outdoors, and took pride in his craftsmanship. He loved his visits to Dutch Brothers (whether the baristas loved it or not) with his dog, Pip.

His family is grateful to Nathan, Idaho Home and Hospice, and especially to Niki Larkin, Red Fox Home Care, who kept him comfortable at home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Quinn's Lounge on November 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
