Ronald William Bronner, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of the Colorado Springs community, passed away on November 14, 2025, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was 83 years old.
Ron was born on May 8, 1942 to William and Eltha Bronner in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he also grew up. He graduated from Godwin High School in 1960, proudly playing on the school's football team—a highlight of his youth and a point of lifelong pride. Ron was the eldest of four children, preceded in death by his three younger sisters: Lois Robar, Noreen Mulligan, and Cindy Kawka.
Ron met the love of his life, Diane Kanta, in Detroit. In a whirlwind romance that proved both fated and enduring, the two married just two weeks after meeting and soon moved to Denver for Ron's position with Arlan's Department Stores. Their marriage lasted 63 years, filled with partnership, adventure, and abiding love. Diane survives him.
Together, Ron and Diane raised two children, Montaine Bronner and Ethan Bronner, who remain devoted to preserving his legacy. Ron was also a proud grandfather to two granddaughters, Tessa Hollmann and Annaliese Bronner, who added immeasurable joy to his later years.
Ron spent 25 years in the retail industry, much of it with the now-defunct Arlan's Department Stores. His career took him across the country as he worked in multiple locations: the Detroit store at Grand River and Oakman; the Denver store on Sheridan Boulevard; Fort Collins at 2701 S. College; Colorado Springs at 1801 N. Union Blvd., where he also served as a buyer; Norman, Oklahoma, where he was a store manager; and Topeka, Kansas, where he continued in store management.
He later worked for Zayre Department Stores, serving as a store manager in Cincinnati from 1971-1973, Sharon, Pennsylvania from 1973-1984, and Hazleton, Pennsylvania from 1984-1987.
In 1987, Ron and Diane moved their family to Colorado Springs, where Ron embarked on a new venture as the owner and operator of The Door Stop, a prehung door and millwork shop. He ran the business with dedication and craftsmanship for 15 years until 2002. Following that, Ron transitioned into automotive sales, becoming a certified GM salesman for Ferguson GMC and Mike Shaw Buick GMC in Colorado Springs, continuing his commitment to customer service until his retirement in late 2013.
Throughout his life, Ron found peace, adventure, and camaraderie through fishing. His annual trips to Canada with close friends were sacred traditions that brought him joy, laughter, and lasting memories.
Ron will be remembered for his steadfast work ethic, his love for his family, and the quiet strength he brought into every part of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, integrity, and cherished relationships.
Ron is survived by his loving wife Diane; his children, Montaine and Ethan; and his granddaughters, Tessa and Annaliese. His memory will be deeply treasured by all who knew and loved him.
May his memory be a blessing.
