Ronald C. Brown, 77, of Toms River, devoted husband of 55 years to Christy Holmes Brown, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Known as "Ron" or "Ronnie" to close friends and family, he was born on February 2, 1948, in Miami Florida, to the late Alice and Air Force Vet Bour "Bud" Brown.
During his childhood, Ron moved frequently with his family due to Bud's career, living in various cities including Miami, California, Fort Walton Beach, Boston, and even a period in London, England, where he was a U.K. Little League Champion in 1960.
He met Christy at North Texas State, fell in love, and they married, eventually settling in Point Pleasant, NJ, where they started a family with their two children: son Tye Brown and daughter Carrie Beth Brown. It was then when they started to breed golden retrievers for decades along with a beloved array of pets.
Ron worked as a Master Carpenter and built a stellar reputation through his company, Ron Brown Enterprises, crafting furniture and cabinets for clients from New York City to Central New Jersey. He later concluded his career at Mr. Paul's Custom Cabinets in Manasquan, NJ.
An avid sportsman, Ron loved the outdoors, particularly golf and fishing, passions he passed on to his children. A few years older than his younger brother, he coached Bobby's Little League team to the Regional Championships. Ron was also a dedicated fan of the New York Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys, often voicing "harsh criticisms" when they did not perform to his expectations or more so their potential.
He enjoyed spending time in his backyard tending to his collection of bird feeders while sipping Dunkin' Donuts coffee and watching the different birds visit. Ron always had a kind of quiet magic—the kind you only notice if you pay attention. You could see it most clearly in the way he cared for birds. While most people just tossed seed into a feeder, he mixed special blends, little recipes he'd fine-tuned through seasons of trial and error. Sunflower seeds for the cardinals, a pinch of something extra for the finches, and his home made hummingbird nectar.
He never said it out loud, but I think he believed that if you gave nature a little bit of love, it would meet you halfway. And the birds always did. They'd gather in the yard like they knew him—like they trusted him. There was something peaceful in watching him work, both on his gardens with the birds and with being a cabinetmaker. His hands moving with a quiet purpose, eyes soft as he looked toward the trees waiting for familiar wings. It wasn't just about feeding birds. It was about kindness, patience, and the joy he found in giving something small and good to the world. Ron had the magic touch when it came to wood as well-he transforms every piece into a stunning masterpiece.
Above all, Ron cherished his family, finding joy in the holidays and special occasions shared with loved ones, often enjoying a delicious meal that left him smiling, always sporting a handy toothpick.
Ron is survived by his wife Christy, brothers Robert and Charles, his children Tye and Carrie and his Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews. In keeping with Ronnie's wishes, he will be cremated, and his family plans to hold a celebration of life in his honor in 2026, as the holidays are upon us.
May he rest in peace, and may his memory be eternal.
