Roopa Ajmera, of Bethesda, Maryland, and San Diego, California, passed away on February 11, 2022. She was born on September 9,1945, in Gaya, India, and came to the United States in 1966, joining her husband of 61 years, Dr. Ramesh Ajmera. They resided first in Iowa City, Iowa, and later for extended periods in Greenville, North Carolina, Ridgecrest, California, San Diego, California, and Bethesda, Maryland.
Roopa had an entrepreneurial spirit, getting her start selling Avon products door-to-door in North Carolina. She later established a very successful business—R & M Enterprises—selling computer software and hardware to government agencies and other clients. Roopa was an outstanding cook and loved to prepare delicious Indian meals for her family and her many friends. She loved traveling to India to visit her family on extended visits but also throughout the world with Ramesh and their friends.
She is survived by her husband Ramesh; her brother Bhagya Chand Jain of Surat, India; her two children, Dr. Ravi Ajmera (and his wife Richa) of Bethesda, Maryland and Maya Ajmera (and her husband David Hollander) of Washington D.C.; her three beloved grandchildren Rishi Ajmera, Bodhi Ajmera, and Talia Hollander; and many nieces and nephews around the world.
