Rosalind Rachel Flaherty, lovingly known as Rosie, passed away on January 9, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, just one day before her 78th birthday. She was 77 years old.

Born on January 10, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, Rosie spent most of her life in the city she called home.
Her journey through life was marked by independence and a spirited embrace of the things she loved most. She had many adventures and lived her life as she wanted—on her own terms and with a quiet strength.

Rosie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A good western film could always capture her attention, especially when paired with a hot cup of tea. She enjoyed moments of peace sitting outside having a smoke with Blue at her side. She cherished the rhythm and soul of Motown music during car rides and never passed up the chance to enjoy some ice cream along the way. While she appreciated visits from family, she also valued her solitude—a balance that defined much of her character.

She leaves behind her family: her daughter Marisa Smithers and son-in-law David Smithers; grandsons Wesley Smithers and Nathan Smithers; sisters Rebecca Miller, Roxanne Felan, and Rowena Vera; and brothers Richard Rocha and Ralph Rocha.

Rosie was preceded in death by her mother Mary L. Gonzales, Stepfather Frank Gonzales, and Father Ricardo Rocha.

Her daughter would like to thank the following:
Vanessa Magel, her nurse from Embrace Hospice. Thank you for the care, kindness and friendship you showed Rosie.
Roxanne Felan, her sister for always being there for Rosie.

Her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her best.
A Funeral Mass will be held on January 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St Paul Catholic Church 350 Sutton.

Interment will be held on January 29, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels and Cemetery Dominion (Mausoleum) 20900 I-10. The internment will be simple: a short blessing and prayer and a quiet farewell.
