Rose Elizabeth "Rosie" MacAulay (née Lahr), departed this world on December 2, 2025, in Bangor, Maine, at the age of 84.

Born on November 8, 1941, in Saint Joseph, Minnesota, Rose was raised in the Catholic faith and carried those values of compassion and service throughout her life. She attended St. Benedict's in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and earned an Associate's Degree from Technical High School in St. Cloud. Later, she became a certified nursing assistant through the College of the Canyons in Valencia, California.

Rose's life was marked by resilience and dedication. As a mother, she raised four daughters—Valerie (Brett) Fraser, Heather (Louis) DiTaranto, Stephanie (Chris) Salay, and Rebecca MacAulay—with unwavering strength. She ran a daycare from home and helped to instill a compassionate nature in her daughters by caring for young children within her home.

Rose worked for many years at a skilled nursing home in Newhall, California, where she provided compassionate care to the elderly. She also offered specialized support to a close friend living with Parkinson's disease. In her later years, Rose found joy and fulfillment through art, and avidly practiced portrait and some nature sketches daily until the end of her life.

Left to cherish her memory are: Daughters Valerie (Brett), Heather (Louis), Stephanie (Chris), and Rebecca (Toby); grandsons Travis, Walter, and Cary; siblings Peter Lahr, Paul Lahr, and Tina Lahr; niece Angela, and nephews Paul, Chester, and cousins Kelly, Annette, Michelle Kathy and Ed.

She was preceded in death by her father Peter Lahr; mother Ermaline "Jo" Lahr; infant son Douglas MacAulay; and aunt Shirley Buechler.

Rose loved travel and lived in all four corners of this nation (from Minnesota to California, Florida and then Maine). Her daughters reside in New Zealand, Florida, California and Maine. She is deeply mourned by all daughters who will celebrate her life according to their own personal beliefs. Intentions will be provided at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Temple Terrace, FL on January 28, 2026 at 7 pm. She is also added to the weekly prayer list at Corpus Christi. Additional masses to be held throughout the year.
