Rose Marie Pitroski, a beacon of resilience, outgoing personality, and selflessness, passed away on February 10, 2026. Born on June 20, 1926, she graced the world with her warm presence and a love for others, leaving an indelible impression on many lives.
The first daughter of William and Freda Steindl, Rose was one of seven siblings, predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph Pitroski, her parents, three brothers and two sisters and two grandchildren. She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Donna Moore (Ralph) of Knoxville, TN, and Linda Goodwin (Russ) of Accident, MD, her dear sister, Betty Kuhns of Scottsdale, PA, as well as six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Rose and Joe Pitroski married on January 14, 1952 and shared a beautiful, if brief union until his passing in 1969, Rose was a devoted wife and mother, dedicating herself to her family. Following the untimely loss of her husband, Rose demonstrated remarkable strength, entering the workforce full-time as an office manager for a local lumber company. After retiring, she continued to work as a secretary well into her 80’s, a testament to her unwavering work ethic and zest for life.
A woman of many interests, Rose had a lifelong love for game shows, working crossword puzzles, cheering for her favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and engaging in a good card game. Above all, she found the greatest joy in spending time with her family, turning ordinary moments into memorable ones.
Described by those who knew her as outgoing and friendly, Rose embodied the adage "a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet." She was admired for her selflessness, always lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors in need. Her legacy is one of love and service to others, with many expressing how much their lives were enriched by knowing her.
Despite the challenges she faced, including the loss of her spouse and assuming the role of both parents, Rose's perseverance shined through. Raising her two daughters while working full-time stands as one of her greatest accomplishments. Her enduring love for her family and friends, and her pet papillon, Toby, will be remembered by all.
Rose's life was a testament to enduring love, resilience, and the powerful impact one person can make.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 148 E Crawford Ave., Connellsville, PA on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity in her name.
