Rose Marie Porche

"Hi, I'm Rose Marie Porche'." Let me start by thanking you all for coming to celebrate my life.
My family affectionately calls me Ma, Sister, Granny, and "Money" (London).
I was the second child born to the late Albert James and Mary Ellen Williams on November 15, 1953. While growing up in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, I enjoyed spending time with my older brother, Wendell ("Bonnie"), and helping my parents care for my younger siblings: Vanessa ("Tess"), Albert ("Stan"), Caroline ("Carol"), and Billy. One of my favorite pastimes was watching the Chicago Cubs with my dad — those were moments I truly cherished.
I attended DuSable High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1972 — Go Panthers! I later furthered my education at Chicago State University.
My greatest joy in life was becoming a mother to my three children: Antonio ("Tony"), Marshawn, and LaToya ("Toya"). They are my heart and my proudest accomplishment.
Let's not forget my precious grandchildren: Shakierra, Shonique, Antonio Jr., Marshawn II, Tyler, London, Shamar, and Jeremiah. As Luther Vandross would "say", "It's so amazing to be loved."
Oh, how I enjoyed shopping, playing the slots, taking vacations, attending family reunions, playing cards, and cheering on my Chicago Bulls. If you put on steppin' music, I'm on the floor steppin' as Frankie Beverly would "say", "We Are One!"
Speaking of one, I married my one and only soulmate, Maurice Henry Clay. Reunited — and it feels so good!
As I take this stairway to Heaven to be with my loved ones, it's not goodbye — it's simply see you later.
I leave to cherish my memory:
My children: Antonio (Kesha) Porche', Marshawn (Cynthia) Washington, and LaToya Washington.
My grandchildren: Shakierra Washington, Shonique Porche'-Kim, Antonio Porche' Jr., Marshawn Washington II, Tyler Washington, London Rose-Marie Frasier, Shamar Porche', and Jeremiah Porche'. One great-grandson. My siblings: Wendell Williams; Vanessa (Sam) Tolbert; Albert (Debbie) Williams; Caroline (Kenny) Moore; and Billy Williams. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Roses are red.
Violets are blue.
