Roseann Marie Petrie

1952 - 2025

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and best friend, Roseann Marie Petrie, who left this world unexpectedly on November 20, 2025, at the age of 73. Roseann's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Roseann is survived by her husband, Stephan L. Petrie of Colchester, Vermont, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage—a true testament to their enduring love and dedication to family. Born in Beacon, New York, Roseann spent her early life there, raising her family and serving her community. She was a devoted parishioner of Saint Joachim's Church and a Girl Scout leader for 15 years, touching the lives of countless young women through her generosity and guidance.
She was a loving mother and friend to her three children: Nicole M. Lucas of Beacon, New York, and her husband Patrick; Stephan L. Petrie Jr. of Milton, New York, and his wife Jessica; and Scott J. Petrie of Yorktown, Virginia, and his wife Colleen. Above all, Roseann's greatest joy in life was her family, and she was deeply proud of her nine grandchildren: Anthony Petrie and his wife Katherine; Gabrielle L. Lucas-Bozsik, Esq., and her husband Matthew Bozsik; Anna Petrie; Matthew Petrie; Andrew Lucas; Erica Petrie; Stephanie Petrie; Sean Petrie; and Evan Petrie. Her heart was also filled with love for her first great-grandchild, Owen Petrie.
Roseann also leaves behind her three beloved sisters: Geraldine Phillips, Sandra Klemczak, and Gloria Hage and her husband Michael. She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Vera Cristo, and her brother, Nicholas Cristo.
Throughout her life, Roseann touched countless lives with her warmth, compassion, artistic talents, and generosity. She enjoyed a remarkable career that began at IBM and continued through Greystone Programs, Rehab Programs, and finally the Shelburne Museum, where she worked for 20 years. It was at the Shelburne Museum, nestled in the heart of Vermont, that Roseann truly found a home—a place where she nurtured her talents, forged lifelong friendships, and served others with grace and dedication.
Beyond her devotion to family and work, Roseann had a deep love of photography. Whether walking the edges and trails of Lake Champlain, where she resided, or wandering the streets of Beacon, New York, where she was born and raised her children, she captured breathtaking images of abandoned structures, hidden details, and fleeting moments that many would overlook. She also beautifully documented the lives of her family members, creating precious memories that will be treasured for generations. Roseann shared her work proudly within the PBase photography community, and her photographs can be viewed at https://m.pbase.com/nicky52.
Roseann was a beacon of love and light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts. As she often said, her greatest accomplishment was the family she built and the love she shared with them.
A celebration of Roseann's life will be held by private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that, in honor of Roseann's belief in the power of kindness and humanity, you perform an act of kindness to pay her legacy forward.
