82 years of age and resident of North Whitehall Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning January 3, 2026 while a guest at Fellowship Community.
Rosemarie worked as an Administrative Assistant at Cutshall Insurance Agency and Wainwright Travel upon graduation from Allentown Central Catholic high school in 1961. Along with her husband Eric Shafer Sr. owned the Quik-Stop Superette grocery stores from 1978-1989. After the sale of the grocery stores, Rosemarie returned to Cutshall Insurance Agency in 1990 as an Administrative Assistant and finished her career in the same role with Lincoln Financial Insurance where she retired in 2001.
Post retirement Rosemarie was actively involved with Holy Trinity parish and managed their basket party fundraisers for several years and counted collections on Monday mornings, along with many other volunteer activities. She liked to travel with friends and her husband David and visited nearly every country in Europe after her retirement. Her favorite game show was Wheel of Fortune, and it was never a good time to call her at home between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m.
Rosemarie will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, and friend that showed kindness to everyone who met her. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by husband David Frederick; son Eric Shafer of Pittsburgh; step-sons Scott Frederick (Deema) and Kevin Frederick (Deanna) both of Allentown; grandchildren Cecilia, Evan, and Nova Frederick; sister-in-law Mary Anne (Shafer) Haney of Bath; six nieces, two nephews and several cousins. She was predeceased by husband Eric Shafer Sr.; son Kevin Shafer; mother Margaret (Molchany) Tognoli and father Joseph Tognoli; sister Marianna Dolan along with her spouse Robert; brother Joseph Tognoli along with his spouse Sylvia (Yale).
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Daniel J. Yenushosky on Friday January 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm in Holy Trinity Catholic Church 4456 Main Street, Whitehall, PA 18052, where her family will receive guests beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private.
