Russ was born in Lancaster, Ohio, to the late Russell E. Greene Sr. and Mildred R. Harkinson. He attended Whitehall-Yearling High School and graduated with the Class of 1959. Russ built a successful and fulfilling career in sales, working as a real estate broker and later thriving in the recreational vehicle industry for many years in Columbus, Ohio. Russ was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family and friends. He lived life with enthusiasm and curiosity. His passions included running in marathons, sailing competitively, reading, and capturing moments through photography—hobbies that reflected his adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for the world around him. He spent many winters in Estero, Florida, before retiring there permanently.

Russ was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Ann Green, in 2017.

He is survived by his children, Timothy R. Green of Columbus, Ohio, Christine E. Clark of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and Thomas C. Green of Columbus, Ohio; as well as his stepsons, Charles L. Parker of Pleasant City, Ohio, and Michael Parker of Keller, Texas. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Lee Green and Lois Ann Timmons, both of Columbus, Ohio. Russ leaves behind five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.
