Sadie Alberta “Peggy” Snider, née Rhoads, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Denton, Texas. Born on November 21, 1931, in Beloit, Kansas, she lived a long and full life, staying active and socially engaged as much as possible, never losing her memories, curiosity or interest in her surroundings. In her later years, she lived with her daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter, and 5 minutes from her other daughter - who were devoted to her care and comfort to the very end.
Sadie was the eldest daughter of Eugene and Ethel Rhoads and grew up alongside her younger sister Betty Daniel and younger brother Bobby. She lost her mother at a young age (cancer) as well as her older brother Eugene (Korean War). Throughout her life, she carried with her the values instilled during her Kansas upbringing—resilience, strength of character, and a life-long love of dancing.
She is survived by her daughters Beverly Tookey and Barbara Smith. Sadie also cherished the memory of her daughter Peggy Snider, who preceded her in death. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Joseph Snider and Jeremy Kessler; Jana Holden and Sarah Werts; and Eryn Young, Mahliya Long, and Nakia Davis. Each held a special place in her heart.
Sadie had a zest for life that shone through in everything she did. Her favorite pastime was ballroom dancing—a passion that brought her joy and allowed her to express herself with elegance and rhythm. She also found delight in watching ice skating competitions, episodes of NCIS, and Dancing with the Stars.
A familiar face at the Frisco Senior Center, Sadie enjoyed spending time with others in her community. At home, she found comfort in writing letters and sending thoughtful cards to friends—a small but meaningful way she stayed connected with those she cared about. She loved visiting with family members and often took pleasure in simple car rides around town, observing roadwork and new buildings as they sprang up across the cityscape.
Sadie’s warmth touched many lives over the years. Her thoughtful gestures—whether through handwritten notes or heartfelt conversations—left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know her.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
