Sally McGregor Eklund was born in St. George, Utah, on December 21st, 1975. On this day, a bright, beautiful, strong soul was gifted to the world. Growing up in Utah and Northern California with her six siblings and two amazing parents, Sally grew into who we know today. On November 15th, 2025, Sally passed away surrounded by the love of her two children, Jake and Abby, and older sister, Carolyn. Jake and Abby have been blessed to have a mother who made a house a home. No matter the city or the size of the house, the love never left. This type of love Sally blessed us with is in every single person she ever came to know. Gifting us with her laugh, love, and strength beyond measure is a gift that will not be taken for granted.
Throughout Sally's family, it was known that she was "the smartest one." While she was too humble to claim this title, she spent her life career as a gifted accountant who was a quick thinker, problem solver, and had a heart of gold. Sally did not possess a judgmental bone in her body; she loved everyone for who they were, letting anyone who knew her to be their true self. This energy she poured into the world was taken too fast; however, the 49 years she spent with us was enough to know her love is eternal.
Every occasion and holiday was another excuse for Sally to give her family her love to the fullest. Whether it was Christmas or Saint Patrick's Day, every occasion became a reason to gather—celebrating life through family and traditions with love and appreciation for the life we have.
Jake and Abby spent countless meals where dinner would start off with a good thing and a bad thing about your day. Wanting to hear everything and laugh with each other was Sally's goal. The hours spent sitting at the table with dirty dishes far past bedtime is a memory that will never leave. Spending almost the last twenty years of her life in southern California, Sally had a love for the ocean like none other. This connection to Mother Earth showed how far beyond Sally's love ran. In every sunrise and sunset, the world showed its beauty, and Sally never failed to notice. The past weeks without Sally with us has been an unimaginable pain, but through sunsets, sunrises, rainbows, and laughs, Sally has given us signs that she is at peace and looking over us, and the love we all hold in our heart for Sally will never leave us.
Sally is survived by her two children, Jake and Abby; her siblings, Greg, Carolyn, Travis, Chris, Tim, and Jill; her brothers- and sisters-in-law; her mother, Diane; and many nieces and nephews. She is reunited in heaven with her father, Scott McGregor, and her late husband, Christer Eklund—no doubt dancing together to "Forever in Blue Jeans" once again. Her contagious laugh, playful humor and boundless heart and spirit will remain with us for all eternity. It is not a goodbye; it is a see you later.
A celebration of life will be hosted on her 50th birthday, December 21, 2025 from 3pm to 6pm at The Fish Tank Event Space, located at 34233 Via Santa Rosa, Capistrano Beach (Dana Point), CA 92624. Friends and family are invited to attend.
