Sally Greenside Jones, a woman of boundless creativity, profound wisdom, and infinite love, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026. She was 85 years old. Surrounded by the warmth of her family at the Hospice of Charles County in Waldorf, Maryland, Sally completed her final earthly journey.

Born in Cass Lake, Minnesota, to Leonard and Kathryn Greenside, Sally was a spirit of the North who carried a sense of adventure throughout her life. After graduating from Cass Lake High School and the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, she began her greatest partnership in 1962 when she married Michael Jones.

Together, Mike and Sally built a life filled with music, art, and service. They settled in DeSoto and Duncanville, Texas, where they raised their two children. Later in life, motivated by her deep devotion to family, they moved to Waldorf, Maryland, to be present for the joy of watching her granddaughters grow up.

Sally's professional and spiritual life was defined by connection. A dedicated Social Worker and lifelong volunteer, she was a "Kinkeeper"— the glue that held communities together. She was a very active member of the Oak Cliff and Davies Unitarian Universalist Churches, and was a lifelong student of A Course in Miracles.

Perhaps most symbolic of her life's philosophy was her passion for Labyrinths. Sally did not just walk them; she designed and built them. From large-scale installations in open fields to intricate designs on a post-it note, she understood that life is not a maze to get lost in, but a path to be walked with intention.

To define Sally by a single title would be impossible. She was a true polymath.

To those who knew her, she was:
An Advisor, Advocate, Archivist, and Artist. A Banjo Player, Bird Watcher, Botanist, and Builder. A Choirist, Collector, Craftsperson, and Cub Scout Den Mother. An Explorer, Farmer, Floral Preservationist, and Friend to All. A Gardener, Guide, Hiker, and Leader. A Mentor, Musician, Naturalist, and Orator. An Organizer, Painter, Piano Player, and Poet. A Reader, Singer, Songwriter, Storyteller, and Tailor. A Teacher, Unifier, Writer, and Wreath Maker. But above all, she was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt.

Sally is survived by her husband of 63 years, Michael Jones; her daughter, Tracey MacDonald and husband Brian; her son, Jeff Jones and wife Mary Norvell; her sister, Peggy Ellingson and husband Dean; and her sisters-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Greenside and Marilyn Greenside. Her legacy lives on in her granddaughters, Julie and Allison.

She is reunited in peace with her parents and her brothers, Dennis, Terry, and Charles Greenside.
