Salvatore Liguria, born in Carini, Province of Palermo, Sicily passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in his home in Villa Grazia di Carini at the age of 82. Where his life began and ultimately came full circle.
He is survived by his two daughters; Maria Antoniette Findlay (Greg Findlay), Annalisa Liguria Dill (Jason Dill) and his son Salvatore Liguria (Colleen Cherry Liguria); his adorning grandchildren; Anna Nicole Owen (Isaac Owen), Lauren Findlay, Isabella Dill, and Joseph Dill, and his cherished great-grandson Charlie Owen; his beloved partner Maria Concetta Marsana. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Salvatore was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply valued family and friendship. In 1965, Salvatore emigrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, NY. It was there that he started his family with Anna Russo Liguria and dedicated himself to the restaurant business, turning his passion for food and hospitality into a lifelong vocation. For many years, Salvatore was a resident of Williamsburg and the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, where he was well known as the owner and operator of several "Sal's Italian restaurants" that served communities all along the east coast from New York to Florida. Through his perseverance and vision, he became a successful entrepreneur, earning respect within his community. He shared not only his cuisine, but also his Sicilian heritage and his belief that a table brings people together, where food was a way of expressing love, tradition, and hospitality. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved and naturally that extended into his life's work as a restaurateur.
After retiring, Salvatore returned to Sicily, where he spent the final years of his life surrounded by family and friends. Salvatore was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Antonina Conigliaro Liguria and Vincenzo Liguria; his former wife, Anna Russo Liguria, his brothers, Vincenzo and Sebastian; and his sister, Rosa.
He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and the warmth he brought into the lives of all who knew him. He has now entered eternal rest and is with God in Heaven, surrounded by his peace and grace. Salvatore is reunited with his beloved parents, siblings, and those who went before him, welcomed by angels into everlasting life. His faith, love, and legacy live on through the generations he leaves behind.
