A beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2026, surrounded by family. A distinguished Public Servant for the City of Minneapolis for over 30 years, he was a loving husband to Sue for 45 years of marriage where they built a beautiful family together. Sam is survived by his wife Sue, sons Sam (Lynsie) and Tom (Jenna), and four grandchildren, Lennie, Trevor, Levi, and Clara. His influence was intangible, his smile unforgettable even throughout his two-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Sam was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and planting an uncountable number of trees & plants that provided food and shelter for wildlife during Minnesota's harsh winters. He had many hobbies that kept his days full such as cutting wood, home remodeling projects, tinkering with tractors and traveling the country and world. He loved to drive across the country by vehicle to take in all it's beauty and enjoy the journey it provided. Our hearts ache with loss, but the beautiful memories we shared bring comfort. We are inspired to honor that love by living each day as fully as possible, leaving no room for regrets.
In lieu of flowers, the Dailey family asks that you donate to have a tree planted or plant a tree yourself in remembrance of Sam.
We would like to gather his friends and family for a celebration of life, later this spring. We will announce more on this in the future as plans are made. Thank you, with love.
