Samuel Hollis Jones

Samuel Hollis Jones Sr., age 86, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on January 8, 2026, at his home, holding hands with his wife and surrounded by the love of his family.

Sam was born on June 22, 1939, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Lonnie and Iris Jones.
From an early age, his life was marked by a deep faith and a calling to serve God, a calling he faithfully answered throughout his life.

A devoted pastor and servant of Christ, Sam dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He pastored churches across Texas, including congregations in Texarkana, DeKalb, Ore City, and Glen Rose. He is especially remembered for his years of ministry at Glenview Baptist Church in Haltom City and First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas, where his leadership, compassion, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on countless lives.

In 1995, Sam and his beloved wife, Rosalie, responded to God’s call to the mission field and began serving in Honduras. Until their retirement in 2002, they worked tirelessly to plant churches in remote regions and train local pastors who continue bringing hope to underserved communities to this day. During this time, they also coordinated vital medical missions and support efforts, demonstrating Christ’s love through both word and action.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Iris Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie Jones; his sons, Sam Jones and David Jones; his daughter, Debbie Hernandez; and his cherished grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua, Benjamin, Allie, Adam, Cara Beth, Jonathan, Timothy and Sophie. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Jones, and his sisters, Sally Conger and Kathy Wyman, along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Sam’s life was a testimony of faithful service, steadfast devotion, and God’s enduring love. His legacy of faith will continue to live on through the many lives that he touched.
