In Loving Memory of Samuel Mason (1946-2026)

Samuel Mason, a decorated veteran and visionary leader, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Born in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Sam dedicated his life to service and family. A Vietnam War veteran, he heroically volunteered to complete his brother's combat tour to ensure his safe return.

Following an honorable discharge in 1970, Sam began a distinguished 30-year career with King County Metro in Seattle, where he was a staunch advocate for equity and labor rights within the Black Transit Workers of Seattle. Seeking to leave a "legacy instead of a debt," he established the Family Funds to secure financial independence for future generations.

Family and Loved Ones
Samuel's greatest pride was his large and vibrant family. He is survived by his loving life partner, Evelyn Chatman, who shared in his many joys, and his legacy is carried on by his six children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren
