Samuel Wiley

Samuel Wiley, 97, a longtime resident of Merrillville, Indiana, departed this life on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Samuel retired from the Universal Atlas Cement Division, Buffington Plant, USS, after 35 years of dedicated service. When not working, he found joy and peace in fishing, often spending long hours—sometimes well into the night—waiting patiently for that "Big Catch." He was a faithful member of Love Feast Church of God in Christ, where he served on the Deacon Board.
Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maggie Wiley; two daughters, Loretta Williams and Mary Smith; and five siblings, Carrie Lee Hunter, Rosie Lee Wilkins, Freddie Randolph Jones, Herman Wiley, Jr., and Russell Wiley.
He leaves to cherish his memory nine loving children: Vivian Brown of Jacksonville, IL; Juanita Tolbert of Merrillville, IN; Maggie Carolyn Wiley of Hammond, IN; Ione Taylor of Merrillville, IN; Samuel (Katrina) Wiley, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; Olivia (Vincent) Murphy of Fort Wayne, IN; twins Joshua Wiley and Joseph (Yolanda) Wiley of Gary, IN; and Corona Wiley-Young (Keith Young) of Merrillville, IN.; son-in-law, Troy Smith; sisters-in-law, Christene Wiley and Savannah James; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, bonus children, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation, Friday, February 13, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave., Gary, IN 46404, and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Love Feast COGIC, 2456 Chase St., Gary, IN 46404, with Family Hour from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Home Going Services Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Love Feast C.O.G.I.C, with viewing from 9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. with Elder Clarence Harris officiating.
