Sandra Weinstein

Sandra Weinstein, age 78, of Abington, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, surrounded by family and loved ones. Devoted wife to Herb; loving mother to Jessica (Todd) Slawson and Emily Slawson; cherished bonus mom to Susan (Ron) Schwartz, Paul Weinstein, and Fran Webster; "Granny" to Ryan, David, and Jodi; and great grandmother to Mason. Loyal sister to Bill (Arlene) and Alan (Sherry) Blumenthal. Dear friend and co-parent with her former husband, Jack Slawson.

Sam, as she was known to those who loved her, was truly special and one of a kind. She was fiercely intelligent, beautiful in both presence and spirit, with a dry sense of humor and quick wit. She paid attention to the details that made people feel loved and cared for.

Above all, Sam was a free spirit. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she spent years traveling throughout Europe and made a home for a time on the island of Hydra, a place she always held close to her heart.

Sam expressed her artistic spirit through her home, filled with art and treasured finds. She loved nature, plants, and gardening. She adored animals and gave a loving home to many rescue dogs over the years. She also supported a number of animal rescue organizations and causes close to her heart, including the Philadelphia-based Helping Hand Rescue Mission.

She is deeply missed and will always be in our hearts. Donations in her honor may be made to Helping Hand Rescue Mission or Best Friends Animal Society.
