Sara [Sally] Louise Winter

1965 - 2025

Sara Louise Winter, affectionately known by all as "Sally," passed away on December 16th, 2025, just weeks after celebrating her 60th birthday.

Sally was a woman of extraordinary character—thoughtful, kind, and profoundly generous. She possessed a rare and beautiful gift: the ability to connect with people wherever she went. Whether it was a lifelong friend or a brief acquaintance, Sally had an uncanny memory for the details of people's lives, always making others feel truly valued.

Sally graduated from the University of Georgia and was an enthusiastic football fan her entire life - Go Dawgs! Her career was a reflection of her desire to help others. She spent many years as a devoted staff member at Decatur First United Methodist Church, where she was a pillar of the community and a friendly face to all who walked through the doors. Most recently, she brought her talents and compassion to the Mayo Clinic, working as a patient advocate and contributing to their mission of care and excellence.

Sally's devotion and caring extended deeply into her family life. She is survived by her loving siblings: her sister, Beth, and her brother, Warren, along with many cousins far and wide.

She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and a wide circle of friends who were better for having known her. Her memory will be cherished by all who experienced her bright spirit and her unwavering kindness.

A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, January 11th, from 2 to 5pm at the Schmidt's home at 220 Trexler Drive in Sandy Springs. A service at Peachtree Road United Methodist will take place on Monday, January 12th at 11am, with a reception to follow.
