Sara Elizabeth "Salli" Stevenson, 82, passed away on September 9, 2025, in Beltsville, Prince George's Co, Maryland. She was born in Hollywood, Los Angeles Co, California on May 10, 1943, eldest daughter of Richard Helson Stevenson (1 May 1914-19 March 1993) and Barbara Herbert Holmes (24 June 1917-1 Feb 2020).
Salli graduated from the Visitation Academy in St Louis MO in 1961, which was founded by her third great-grandfather, Pierre Menard, and from Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, CA.
She spent most of her life in Los Angeles, where she enjoyed a lengthy career as a freelance music and dance journalist and book critic for various newspapers and magazines, including the Los Angeles Times, the Hollywood Reporter, the Daily News, and the Circus, among others. She had a lifelong interest in politics and was an advocate for the preservation of wolves in this country.
An acerbic wit hid a fiercely protective, knowledgeable, generous and devoted caregiver. Her door was open to those in need and her phone (almost) always answered. She leaves three brothers, two sisters, four nephews, numerous cousins, and many devoted friends.
