Sarah Marie (Sheets) Berry, 79, went to greet her Lord and Savior on January 23, 2026 while surrounded by loved ones. She was raised in Delphi, Indiana by Helen Marie (Wagner) Sheets and Raymond E Sheets. Sarah graduated from Delphi High School in 1964 and received an associate degree in Nursing from Indiana Central College (University of Indianapolis) in May of 1966.
Sarah married Steven Dale Berry in December of 1966. Together, they had a loving union and raised two children in North Fort Myers, Florida: daughter Susan (1970) and son Raymond (Ray) (1973). Sarah and Steve were married for 41 years until Steve passed away February of 2007.
Sarah worked as a registered nurse in the operating room and was well respected in her field. She dedicated her life to helping people. Sarah valued her faith immensely. Upon moving to Fort Myers, she joined First Christian Church. In 1988, Sarah began learning Aikido and fell in love with the discipline. Her passion led her to earning a black belt and teaching others. Her ability to fall safely became a badge of honor and a running joke in the family.
Remaining to honor Sarah’s memory are her two children, Susan (Chris) Tersteeg & Raymond Berry, as well as four grandchildren, Teagan Tersteeg, Gavin Tersteeg, Samantha Berry, & Heather Berry.
Preceding Sarah in death are her husband, Steven Berry; parents, Raymond & Helen Sheets, and sister Katherine Lewis.
Grave side service to be held in the Spring of 2026 at Zion Citizens Cemetery in Carroll County Indiana. Date to be announced later. She valiantly fought cancer for two years before losing the fight. Memorial donations in Sarah’s memory may be directed to charities helping others fight cancer as bravely as Sarah.
