Sarah Elizabeth Knedlik

1950 - 2026

On February 1, 2026, our beloved friend Sarah died after an almost 3-year battle with cancer. She was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, England on June 17, 1950 to Jean Eileen Mary Wolff and Leonard Grant Wilson. She is survived by her brother, Nicholas, sister-in-law, Anabelle, and her husband's sisters, Marcia and Liz, as well as her many friends in the U.K. and the U.S.

Sarah attended the University of Westminster, London (formerly Holborn College of Law). After working in Yorkshire as a paralegal and flying the Concorde to and from the U.S., Sarah moved to San Francisco and began a career in real estate. When she joined Pacific Union Real Estate in 1989, Sarah met her best and ever-after friend, Larry Stiffler. Shortly thereafter, they began successfully working together in real estate sales. 1993 saw the start of her work at Hill and Company, leasing and managing properties. Sarah ended her career managing Bridgeview, a 26-story, 245-unit condominium on Beale Street in San Francisco from 2002 until her retirement in 2015. After her retirement, Sarah volunteered at SF Village to help elderly women living alone.

In 1990, Sarah married the love of her life, Bob Knedlik. They traveled to Europe and Asia many times in their 19 years of marriage, sharing stories of their vacations in Italy and India, Vienna and Paris. Sarah and Bob enjoyed regular visits from their families and friends in the UK. Bob died unexpectedly in 2009 and though Sarah carried on, there were some difficult years afterwards. However, by then Sarah’s dad was in his 90s, and she managed to travel to the U.K. a few times a year to see him and to ensure his living arrangements and care were up to her standards. For those who knew Sarah, she had high standards and always kept her house in a pristine state.

Sarah faced her diagnosis of cancer in 2023 with her usual strength. Throughout the disease, she battled it with the resolve and grace we all knew. She leaves behind her two cats, Winston and Clemmie, as well as her dog, Pixie. Sarah was a remarkable and kind person and she will be forever missed by her family and friends.

Donations in Sarah's memory may be made to the UCSF Foundation.
