Sean Michael Howard
August 9, 1975 - November 8, 2025

Sean passed away unexpectedly at his home in Arlington, Texas, on November 8, 2025, at the age of 50.

From childhood, Sean was curious, creative, and full of ideas. He loved building and tinkering, playing Dungeons & Dragons, and mastering video games. In his teenage years, he formed lasting friendships, immersed himself in music—especially Ozzy Osbourne and Pink Floyd—and began shaping the values that would guide him throughout his life. He grew into a lifelong nonconformist, standing firm in empathy, individuality, and freedom of expression.

As a young adult, Sean enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Following in the footsteps of his father, aunt, uncles, and grandfathers who served in the military, he was proud to be the first Marine in the family. His intelligence and technical aptitude were quickly recognized, and he was placed in a computer specialist role—a challenge he embraced wholeheartedly.

After his service, Sean obtained a degree in Computer Information Systems and built a decades-long career in technology, ultimately becoming an accomplished and highly credentialed cloud architect. He enjoyed the challenges of his field and was generous in sharing his expertise. Reflecting his professional dedication, he recently published a book, Edge Computing with Amazon Web Services , and authored other articles in the field of cloud technology.

Sean and his then-wife, Cristy, welcomed their son, Nick, in 2003. As a father, Sean was loving and supportive. He focused on encouraging Nick and creating a safe space where he could form his own opinions about the world without judgment. One of their strongest bonds was their shared love of computers and technology, and Sean passed down many things he had learned throughout his career. He pushed Nick to pursue higher education and supported him throughout his early college years. He took deep pride in his son and the relationship they built.

Sean was a fierce, compassionate, and incredibly generous son, brother, father, friend, and colleague. His presence enriched the lives of those around him, and he will be deeply missed and remembered with love.

Sean is survived by his parents, Vicki and Richard Scully, and David and Kelli Howard; his grandfather, Charles Stone; his son, Nick Howard; his siblings, Lisa Howard, Tracy Scully, Allie Scully, Christian Scully (Alex), David Howard, Travis Howard (Fallon), and Cameron Howard (Rachel). He leaves behind his nieces and nephews; his aunts Lorraine Howard (Bill), Cindy Howard, Myrna Stone, and Becky Stone; and his uncles Jim Howard (Pat), Chuck Stone, and Alan Stone. In addition, Sean is survived by many cousins; his close friends Mario Perez and Ulisses Rusher; and his rescue bulldog, Chanel.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Elsie and Elmer McFadden, Robbie Lewis and Charles Cecil Stone, Adele and Mac Davis, and Lilly and Martin Howard; his grandparents, Mozelle Stone, and Maxine and Nelson Howard; his aunt, Jocelyn Stone; his sister, Shannon Scully; his cousin, A.J. Stone; and his lifelong friend, John Colligan.

Sean will be interred at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. A private memorial service will be held in January. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to an animal rescue of your choice in his honor.
