Sergio Tapia

Sergio Tapia passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home on April 1, 2026. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 16, 1937. His parents were Edward and Vivian Tapia who together had 6 children. He is survived by his brother Gale Tapia and his sister Minerva Schwartz.

He came to California at the age of 13 where he and his family settled in San Francisco. He graduated from Galileo High School. He worked at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard while attending some college and trade school and became a stationary engineer and a member of local union 39.

He leaves behind his wife, Carole Tapia (Di Sacco) of 66 years who he met growing up on Filbert Street. They had five children. His late son, Michael Tapia, son, James Tapia, daughter in law, Virginia Tapia, daughter, Debbie Parraga, daughter, Suzanne Tapia, son, David Tapia, and daughter in law, Elizabeth Tapia. He also leaves behind 8 grand children: Steven, Crystal, Angelina, Shannon, Nicole, Gino Christine, Allison; and 12 great grand-children. He also leaves behind many nephews and nieces.

Sergio was a devoted husband to Carole Tapia and always there for his children. There are no words to describe the loss of his humor and ever smiling face. He was known for always making a joke. He was a strong presence to his family. He loved watching all sports including football, baseball and basketball, as well as playing solitaire on his iPad. But most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and remembered lovingly forever.

Friends may visit from 5pm-8pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave, Daly City, with a Rosary at 6pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 11:30am at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, followed by Burial at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Colma.
