Our beloved daughter, Shannah Marie Knapp, passed into heaven Thursday, February 5th, in her home in Owosso, Michigan, from a blood clot in her lungs. She was 43 years old.
Her Celebration of Life is being held at 2PM on March 14th at 1235 North Dutton in The Promise Center's Living Room.
Shannah grew up in Rohnert Park, CA attended Open Bible Christian School from first grade to her graduation in 2000.
She attended family camp and youth camps every year at Richardson Grove Campgrounds, from middle school through high school.
Shannah was deeply moved in high school by the massive Christian youth conferences, Aquire the Fire. After graduating in 2000, she attended the year-long internship at Teen Mania's Honor Academy in Garden Valley, Texas.
One of the highlights of her time there was participating in a Global Missions trip to Ecuador, South America. Where she served vulnerable homeless girls living on the streets.
Shannah was incredibly kind and loyal, a bit stubborn, and deeply compassionate—beautiful inside and out. She loved Jesus with her whole heart and she loved her family but she especially loved children.
She lived a full and adventurous life, enjoying annual trips to the happiest place on earth, Disneyland, as well as Universal Studios, Marine World, and any water or amusement park she set her sights on. She fished in Canada and the Pacific Ocean, loved swimming, and was an accomplished rock climber. She was a member of the Cross Country Riders chapter of The Christian Motorcycle Association faithfully serving on the servants team ministering at motorcycle rallies, rides and in prisons.
Three years ago, she rode the train from Michigan to Washington State to join 94 family members for her dad's 90th birthday celebration—held at a water park, of course.
She surfed in Hawaii, scuba dived in Belize, and skied/snow boarded.
Having gone through the foster system as a young child, Shannah's heart's desire was to become a social worker serving foster children. She loved children and was incredibly gifted with them. She attended Baker College in Owosso, earning an associate's degree in social services.. We're so very proud of her.
She bravely fought stage 4 colon cancer last year—and won.
Shannah joined the massive Knapp family just before her 5th birthday, becoming an instant auntie and the eighth child of Sam and Karen Knapp.
Our hearts are shattered that she no longer walks on this earth, and we honestly cannot yet wrap our minds around it. We loved her so much.
Shannah was proceed in death by her brothers Daniel Ray Knapp and Sterling 'Robby' Knapp, she will be laid to rest beside them in Vancouver Washington. Her beloved birth-mother Rita McCoy and her beloved step granddad Myrl Bush and grandpa Al all passed before her.
She is survived by her parents, Sam and Karen Knapp, her brothers, Sam Jr (Dawn), Maurice Knapp, Steve Knapp (Barb), her sisters Mirian House, Sarah Keller (Whip), Jessica Chenier (Todd) and Jennifer Chenier. Her grandmother Lorraine Bush, Zoe Keller her niece, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and her beloved partner Ashley and their three children Patyon, MaKenna, and Heaven.
Our comfort is knowing, without a doubt, that she is now in the presence of Jesus.
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die.'"
John 11:25
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
