Shannon Malcom Prestridge, 49, passed away on November 26, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Born on May 26, 1976, in Charleston, South Carolina, Shannon brought warmth and compassion into the lives of all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Old Dominion University, Shannon earned her bachelor's degree in communications and went on to pursue a career as a newspaper journalist. Her talent for writing and her dedication to truth-telling made a lasting impact during her years in journalism. Driven by a deep sense of justice and fairness, she later studied law for several years—an endeavor that reflected her unwavering commitment to helping others and standing up for what she believed was right.

Shannon was known for her kind heart and generous spirit. She gave freely of herself to those in need and found joy in lifting others up. Her love for music, satirical videos, and reading brought lightness and laughter into everyday moments. Whether through a thoughtful conversation or a shared laugh over a clever video clip, Shannon had a way of making people feel seen and valued.

Above all else, Shannon was devoted to her family. She was a loving daughter to Jeannine Malcom; a cherished mother to her sons, Oliver Prestridge and Noah Noland; and a caring sister to Erin (Tori Trembath). Her presence enriched the lives of many extended family members including her aunts Lori Johnson and Dayle (Mike) Lambrecht; uncles Glenn Johnson and Dennis Malcom; cousins Tom (Amy) Malcom, Desirae (Nik) Stinson, Matthew (Teresa) Lambrecht; as well as numerous dear friends who were touched by her warmth and sincerity.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Malcom; her uncle Dale Malcom; maternal grandparents Francis and Rose Johnson; and paternal grandparents Robert and Frances Malcom.

Shannon was a beautiful part of a loving family—a woman whose heart overflowed with love for those around her. Her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fill, but the memory of her kindness, strength, and laughter will continue to inspire all who knew her.

May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
