Shannon Lynn Schneider passed away on February 28, 2026 in Lakeland, Florida just one month shy of her 77th birthday.
Born in Staten Island, NY, on March 30, 1949 to the late Lewis Doty and Shannon Schafer, she spent her early years soaking up the fast-paced energy of New York City. She was both active and intelligent, leading her high school’s cheer team as captain while composing inspirational poetry for her senior year book. She met her late husband, Joel Schneider, with whom she enjoyed lunch dates in Battery Park. They married in 1970 and soon relocated to Miami, FL.
Shortly after moving, she convinced her mother and father to do the same. Her son, Eric, was born in 1975 followed by her daughter, Jessica, 9 years later. In 1985 she moved the whole family to Sarasota, FL where she lived, worked, and volunteered until she moved to Lakeland in 2025 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Steven.
Lynn was a life-long learner, avid reader, valuable employee, dutiful daughter, helpful older sister, loving wife, caring mother, dedicated volunteer, and kind human being. She took pride in the work she did from accounting to contract review to corporate real estate administration. Dedicated to her duties, she finally retired at the age of 75. She gave generously of her time and money to causes she cared about such as ABWA, Zonta, NPR, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and fundraisers held by friends and family.
Her sharp wit, supportive words, loyal friendship, kind nature, joyful attitude, giving spirit, and warm hugs will be missed.
She is survived by her younger brother, Lewis Doty (NJ), her son, Eric Schneider (WI), and her daughter Jessica Schneider (FL).
