Sharon Jo Martin, 76, passed away on March 27, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Born on August 11, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, Sharon lived a life filled with love for her family, creativity, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew her.
Sharon was the beloved mother of Rodney Lee Gregory, Sr., and Sherry K. Gregory, and loving sister of Victoria (Carl) Canady and Cynthia "Cissy" Martin. She cherished her grandchildren deeply: Rodney Lee Gregory, Jr. and his wife Devon; Ryan Gregory (and Makayla); Geneva (Gregory) Earnhart and her husband Mathew; and Gabriel Spiegel. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren and her Uncle Jim Donald and his daughter Jennifer, as well as nephews and cousins who were dear to her heart. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Dell Martin and Betty Jo (Hogue) Martin; three sisters—Evelyn "Evie," Shirley, and Teresa; and her aunt Geneva (Hogue) Donald.
A woman of many talents and interests, Sharon found joy in working on family ancestry projects, crocheting intricate designs, solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and exploring various art forms. She treasured time spent with friends and family during special occasions and gatherings. Her love for nature was evident in the way she cared for the wildlife around the home in Tyler. Whether feeding deer from her porch rocking chair or watching raccoons, cardinals, woodpeckers, and other birds visit the yard, Sharon found peace in these simple pleasures. She also delighted in the beauty of roses and blooms that adorned the garden.
Sharon’s vibrant personality shone through in everything she did. Known for her sharp wit and giving nature, she brought laughter to those around her even during challenging times. Despite enduring months of physical and mental struggles following heart attacks, strokes, and surgeries to address clogged arteries, Sharon remained resilient—always the "life of the party."
She had a fondness for Mexican food, Chinese food, Taco Tuesdays, shopping trips, and sharing meals with loved ones. These moments of connection brought warmth to her life and created lasting memories for those fortunate enough to share them with her.
Sharon’s legacy is one of love, humor, resilience, and generosity. Her memory will continue to bring comfort to those who knew her as they reflect on the joy she brought into their lives.
May Sharon Jo Martin rest peacefully as those who loved her carry forward the light she shared so freely.
