Sharon Lee Kaptur, 84, passed away on February 10, 2026. Born on October 19, 1941, Sharon spent much of her life in the local area, attending Waukegan High School in Waukegan, Illinois, and Mary D. Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin. As a young girl she loved riding her horses, Princess and Lady and spending time with her sisters.. Later in life she moved west to Lake Villa IL which was where she spent the final years of her life.
Sharon had several jobs in life that included roles at the Deli at Jewel, cooking at Baxter, and working at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion IL.. Her work was characterized by her dedication and the joy she brought to her co-workers.
Sharon was a member of the Waukegan Church of Christ and Sharon's faith was a significant part of her life. Her love for Jesus was profound and influenced many aspects of her daily activities. Sharon was also a passionate cook and a self-described foodie. Her culinary skills were appreciated by all who had the pleasure of experiencing her dishes. Additionally, Sharon enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband Greg, she deeply cherished her cat Ruby, and enjoyed watching old movies and war films, which brought her much joy and contentment.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Greg Kaptur; her father, Phillip Ellis; her mother, Laurel Allen; and her sister, Terry Holloway. She is survived by her loving family: her son, Michael Miller; daughter, Laurie Miller; sisters, Tama Borg, Robin MacIntyre and Phyllis (Foo) Travetto; granddaughter, Kandice Purcell; and great-grandchildren, Carl Purcell Jr., Hailey Purcell, Payton Purcell, and Madelynn Purcell.
Sharon's life was marked by her warmth, generosity, and the deep connections she forged with those around her. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
