Sharon Lee "Shar Bear" Kuhs (née Arnold), age 85, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, in New Berlin, Wisconsin. A beloved mother, grandmother, and community leader, Sharon's life was marked by compassion, determination, and a deep commitment to service.

Born on March 29, 1940, in West Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sharon grew up with a strong sense of purpose that would guide her throughout her life. She graduated from West Milwaukee High School before pursuing higher education at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, and later at Illinois Central College in Peoria, Illinois. Her academic journey reflected her lifelong dedication to learning and personal growth.

Sharon's professional accomplishments were as remarkable as they were pioneering. She was the proud co-owner of SueShar's Southern Plantation and Tanner Paull in West Allis, Wisconsin—ventures that showcased her entrepreneurial spirit and leadership. In a historic achievement, she became the first female president of the West Allis Rotary Club and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow for her outstanding contributions to the organization. Her civic engagement extended further through her service on the West Allis Planning Commission, where she played an active role in shaping the future of her community. In 2014, Sharon competed in the Ms. Senior America pagent as Ms. Senior Wisconsin.

Perhaps one of Sharon's most profound legacies lies in her role as a foster care mother. Over the years, she opened her heart and home to more than 300 foster children. Her generosity and nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on countless lives and exemplified her unwavering commitment to helping others.

Sharon also found joy in a wide array of hobbies that reflected her vibrant personality. She was a member of The Villages Twirling Team and enjoyed synchronized swimming—activities that highlighted both her grace and enthusiasm for life. An avid golfer and traveler, she embraced new experiences with open arms. Her love for horses and gardening brought her peace and fulfillment throughout the years.

As many friends and family members know, her time spent at Hunter's Lake were some of her most cherished moments.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Brian Kuhs, Bruce Kuhs, Kelly Kuhs, and Lynita Wolf; grandchildren: Jayden Kuhs, Megan Kuhs, Kyle Kuhs, and Filip Torbica; daughters- and sons-in-law: Jelena Torbica and John Wolf.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Weber Kuhs and daughter-in law, Cindy Kuhs.

Sharon leaves behind a legacy defined by courage, compassion, and trailblazing achievements. Her memory will live on in the countless individuals and family members she mentored, taught, fostered, advocated for and loved.
