Sharon Gail Lane, 80, of Caldwell, Idaho passed into eternity on January 9, 2026, in Nampa, Idaho. She was born on August 25, 1945, in Caldwell, Idaho to Ralph and Thressa Whelchel.

She was preceded by her son, Gerald, her mother, father, and brothers John (sister-in-law, Anita), Timothy, and Michael.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel of 40 years, her brother Loren (Brenda), and sister Elizabeth.

She graduated from Caldwell High School. Her vocations included the Nampa hospital kitchen, Carnation, Nestle, and Simplot.

Her many talents included cooking, canning, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, music, and gardening in God's beautiful world.

Her family was always most important, and she spent her whole life in their service, through roles including wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, and friend. Her nephew Shawn regards her as "a mother and safe haven," and her niece Amber always thought of her as "a Mom, Confidant, safety net and a strong tower to run to."

"Aunt Sherry Gail, you always gave so much love, grace, wisdom and direction no matter what and always offered me a safe place; I will always be grateful," says her niece Mandy.

She punctuated family gatherings such as Christmas and birthdays with her radiant presence, signature handmade gifts, and her particular wrapping method. To those closest to her, she embodied the Christian virtues, especially love, generosity, and kindness.

"Fly high and fast my darling sister on wings glinting from the sunshine of all of our love," says her sister Elizabeth.

"No man could have asked for a better wife," says her husband Daniel.

"You will be missed so very much and remembered through precious memories always and forever, Aunty Sharon. There is no one like you, and I look forward to seeing you someday in Heaven," says her niece Amber.

Her husband, sister, and nephew Shawn were with her just before she passed into glory.

Her graveside farewell will happen on January 22, at 1:00 p.m. at Middleton cemetery. Afterward, a no-host luncheon will be held in her honor at 2:00 p.m. at Golden Palace Chinese Restaurant in Caldwell, Idaho.
