Sharon Annette Noyce passed away peacefully in her Arlington, TX apartment, at 4:20pm on February 16, 2026, surrounded by family. Sharon was born March 7, 1937.
Sharon is survived and deeply missed by Edwin Clark Noyce, her husband of 67 years, and their children, Stewart, Steven and Becca. In addition, she is forever cherished by her six grandchildren, Cameron, Mason, Sarah, Will, Tatum and Cade, and two great grandchildren, Everly and Maeve.
Sharon grew up in St Francis, a small town in the very northwest corner of Kansas with her parents Dorothy and Harvey Stewart, and her sister Maureen. When it came time for college she chose Kansas State University, where both of her parents had attended and graduated. She was encouraged by an academic scholarship to study chemistry.
At K State, she met her husband Ed Noyce. They were married Dec 28, 1958 and raised an extended family with unconditional love. As a child of God, she encouraged her children to do well and do right by others. They were always surrounded by art and music, good food and good people. She taught her family to say, "Life gives and life takes away. Hooray for life."
Her work career put a chemistry degree to good use. Two highlights show her core intelligence and ability to solve problems. At Rocketdyne, just out of school, she tested the flash point of rocket fuel used in the Mercury space flights. Later, at Printos Marsh in Dallas Texas, she innovated on ink that could be sprayed on all types of surfaces from cardboard to glass. In her later years, she would go back to the University of Maryland for a degree in library science.
Wherever Sharon lived, she tended a garden. And by that, she would spade the ground and add fertilizer to prepare the soil. Then she would grow what worked in the space and enjoy the results in the house, either flowers or vegetables. It was no surprise then that in retirement, she would donate so much of her time to the Cedar Ridge Preserve In Dallas, where she specifically made sure there was a prairie garden.
Finally, she loved books and reading. Her life was spent learning and exploring. In the final years, living in a "certified wildlife habitat" of her own making, she recruited neighbors to be part of a book group. They would meet every three weeks and lead each other through a new book.
A celebration of life for Sharon will be conducted at 4pm, Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Backstage of the Cedar Ridge Preserve in Dallas Texas. Family and friends will gather, tell short stories and spread her ashes.
