Sharon Rondeau, affectionately known as "Meena," passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina, at the age of 79. Born on October 31, 1946, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Sharon lived a life rooted in faith, service, and devotion to her family and community.

A proud graduate of Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee, Massachusetts, Sharon earned her degree in Education with highest honors, graduating summa cum laude. Her passion for teaching in Monson Public Schools led her to a fulfilling career in special education. Among her most meaningful accomplishments was the creation of an innovative intergenerational program that united senior citizens and students to share life skills and wisdom—an initiative that reflected her deep belief in the power of connection across generations.

Sharon's commitment to service extended far beyond the classroom. She was actively involved in mission work and community outreach through organizations such as Vigilant Hope. Her compassion took her across continents on mission trips to Africa, Ecuador and The Dominican Republic where she gave generously of her time and heart to those in need.

Faith was the cornerstone of Sharon's life. She began each day with scripture and ended it with reflection and gratitude. Her enduring mission was to share the importance of faith with those around her—a legacy that continues through the lives she touched.

Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, John Rondeau; her 4 children: Michielle Hahn; Julie Rondeau-Torres and her husband Daniel; Jay Rondeau and his partner Alicia Poswell; she holds close in memory her son Keven Toulouse who preceded her in death. She was a devoted grandmother to 5 grandchildren: Kyle Torres and his partner Melissa Floyd; Ryan Torres and his wife Kianni; Gina Torres; Gabrielle Hahn; and Taylor Toulouse. She was a great-grandmother to 5 great-grandchildren include Juliano Denardo, Delphine French, Nori Torres, Halo Torres, and Jona Torres.

She is also remembered by her sister Lauren Thompson and family, brothers Gary Benson and family, Charles Benson and family and Dana Benson and family as well as her lifelong friend Phylis Meyers.

Sharon also cherished her canine companion Mori who remained by her side.

A Celebration of Life is being held on January 31, 2026, at LifePoint Church, 3600 College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28412 from 2pm-4pm.
