Send Flowers Plant A Tree
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, relative and friend Sharon Hoczyk Taratula, 63, of New Britain, CT on February 4, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents. She was born to John and Regina Kuzia Hoczyk on March 18, 1962.

Sharon leaves behind a loving daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Nick Vincenzo and, the absolute loves of her life, her grandchildren, Jack and Elle, sister-in-law and close friend, Maryann Macdonald, as well as very special family members, Edward and Krystyna Dzwonkowski, close cousins Carol Plante and Phyllis Norton, as well as her chosen siblings, Ed and Terry, Karen, Kathy, Kris, Jim and all of their children and grandchildren. She also was predeceased by Constance Dzwonkowski and Bob Dombrowski. We are all going to feel her absence profoundly.

Sharon attended local schools and was employed by ARRL for over thirty years as an Administrative Manager. Sharon was generous with her kindness and time and volunteered at many local organizations including the Berlin Lions making luminaries to honor our Veterans. She was very passionate about helping stray cats and dogs, often times calling her daughter, Shelley ["we have a problem. I don't know why this stuff only happens to me"] with a random cat or dog in her backseat.

Some of her greatest memories include spending time at Washington Park with friends playing kickball, teaching her cousin's kids how to properly catch crabs off the jetty in Old Lyme ["the trick is raw chicken, trust me"], and geocaching with her beloved Pomeranian, Tucker, frequently risking a ticket for trespassing all to find hidden treasures. She was always up for an adventure. But truly, the light in her eyes was the brightest when she was with her grandchildren - whether it be playing games, coloring or attending one of their sports or activities, nothing brought her more joy. Her happiest role was being a grandmother, and it was a title she carried with immense love.

We honor the memory of Sharon whose presence brought warmth, kindness, and joy to those around her. Throughout her life, she touched many hearts with her compassion and generosity. Her legacy is reflected in the love she shared and the lasting impact it made on her community. Whether through acts of kindness, moments of laughter, a witty or sarcastic one-liner or words of encouragement, she left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the many memories that will live on in the stories we share and the lives she influenced. Let us remember her spirit, carry forward her values, and find comfort in the knowledge that her memory will always be with us.

There will be a private Celebration of Life to be held later to honor her life and legacy.

May Sharon rest in peace, forever remembered and forever loved.
