Sharon is survived by her sons, Adam and Troy Wilkerson; her daughters, Leslie and Jessie Stayner; her grandchildren Ryan, Aislynn, Zach, David, and Hailey; and her beloved nieces, Laura and Karan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Jack Wilkerson, and by her adored big brother, Skip, whom she cherished dearly.
Sharon was born on December 6, 1948, in Merced, California, to Mildred and Earnest Haygood, and was lovingly raised by her aunt, Inez "Ine" Marie Wiget. She lived in Merced County her entire life. In addition to serving as Activities Director at Hylond Convalescent Hospital, Sharon devoted herself to serving the senior population of Merced County.
Known as the quintessential event planner, Sharon loved to bring people together and have a good time. Her life was filled with laughter, and she never met a stranger. She was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed camping and boating at Lake McSwain, spending time with close friends and family, and making sure everyone around her was having fun. Give her a cause to fight for, and she would pursue it with all her heart.
In remembrance, a Candlelight Vigil and birthday celebration will be held on December 13, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Castle Wood Gated Community, 2601 Buhach Rd, Atwater, CA 95301. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Cancer Society.
