Sheila Catherine Crawford

It is with great sadness that the family of Sheila Catherine Crawford announce her passing on March 25, 2026, in Mesa, AZ. Sheila will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was born in Fulton, SD on September 22, 1932, to Frances Clare and Thomas Virgil Crawford.

Sheila studied nursing and was first an LPN and later completed her RN education. She worked in SD and later in KS and moved to CA to work at Stanford University Hospital before moving to AZ in 1991. She worked at and retired from Banner Hospital.

Sheila had a very even temperament and made friends easily wherever she lived and worked. She was always available to help a neighbor in need. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.

She will also be missed by her numerous nephews and nieces to whom she was a wonderful aunt. For so many years, she would shop and ship gifts to the nieces and nephews at Christmastime. She always loved getting pictures of the kids' milestones, from births, to graduations, marriages and parenthood.

Sheila loved animals, especially her many dogs she had over the years. They were her furry children. They were lucky to have Sheila as their pet mom.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas, and her sister Jo Ann Friederich, and is survived, and missed, by Patricia Holzhauser Fort Pierre, SD, Robert (Dee) Palo Alto, CA, Jan Engels, Jim (Dea), Dennis (Becky) Parker, AZ, Marian Hoff, Rita, Judy (Dan) Lange, Appleton, WI, and Linda.

There will be a Memorial Mass for Sheila on Thursday April 9th at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church located at 1244 S Power Road in Mesa, AZ. All are welcome to attend the Memorial. A Celebration of life will be held in the winter of 2026-2027, when friends and family return to AZ. Any memorials may be made to a local animal shelter.
