Sherri Lynn Barker Harper
Fort Worth, Texas

Sherri L. Barker Harper, 65, beloved wife, mother, Mamaw, sister, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2026. She was a Christian and a member of Springdale Baptist Church.

Sherri was born on January 10, 1960, and was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Texas. She took great pride in her home and cherished the life she built there. Sherri knew exactly what she liked and valued the things she had, caring for them with intention and gratitude.

She had an incredible green thumb and could grow just about anything. Flowers brought her great joy, and she loved tending to them and surrounding her home with their beauty. There was never a project she couldn't handle herself—Sherri was fiercely independent, capable, and opinionated in the best way. She always had the news on, stayed well-informed, and wasn't shy about sharing her thoughts. She enjoyed her instant coffee, often having several cups a day—something she will be fondly remembered for.

Sherri loved nature and animals, especially wolves and horses, and she raised Siberian Huskies for 13 years. She enjoyed trips to the casino and found joy in life's simple pleasures. One of her greatest passions was genealogy; she was deeply fascinated by the past and took pride in learning and preserving her family's history.

Sherri was a devoted Mamaw who lovingly kept and cared for her grandchildren, Kain and Lukas, forming a special bond that will be treasured forever.

She was a strong and courageous woman who fought lung cancer and beat it for six years until it returned in March. Throughout her journey, she showed remarkable strength and determination.

Sherri is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Helen Barker, and her mother-in-law, Charletta Harper.

Sherri is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Tom Harper, the love of her life, who devotedly cared for her and their family. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Sean and Brooke Torrence of Crandall, TX; daughter, Heather Sweeney, and son-in-law, Michael Sweeney of Haslet, TX; father-in-law, David Harper of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Paula Condict and husband Mark of Chicago, IL; and her cherished grandchildren: Zac Torrence and family, Carolyn Reid and family, Eli Torrence, Kain Sweeney, and Lukas Sweeney.

She is also survived by her sisters: Shirley F. Arnold and husband Wayne of Weatherford, TX; Judy Barker Tigrett of Weatherford, TX; Jerri Barker Smith of Weatherford, TX, her twin sister; her brother, Phil Barker and wife Paula of Fort Worth, TX; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
