Sherry Lynn Burgener (née Kelly), age 80, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2026, in Thornton, Colorado. Born on January 26, 1945, in Houston, Texas, Sherry brought joy and sparkle to every room she entered throughout her vibrant life.

A proud graduate of Lakewood High School’s Class of 1962, Sherry built a remarkable career rooted in dedication and community. She served as Chief Administrator at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds for over two decades, where her leadership and energy left a lasting impact. Later in life, she brought that same passion to Home Depot, working there for more than 20 years—most recently as a kitchen designer—where her creativity and flair continued to shine.

Sherry was known far and wide for her vivacious spirit. With a huge smile, an even bigger laugh, and hair to match, she was truly the life of the party. Whether bedazzled in red or sharing stories over margaritas with her beloved “Golden Girls,” Sherry embraced life with unmatched enthusiasm. Her love for Elvis Presley was legendary, as was her fondness for elephants—symbols of strength and loyalty that mirrored her own character.

She found joy in adventure and connection. Sherry traveled extensively with her motorcycle club and cherished road trips with her grandson. Her zest for life extended to every corner of her world—from luncheons with dear friends to spontaneous getaways that created memories treasured by all who joined her.

Sherry’s legacy lives on through her loving family: daughter Lynn Ussery (John) of Northglenn; daughter Kelly Evans (Tim) of Erie; grandchildren Brittany Sarconi of Denver, Timothy Evans of Wheat Ridge, Bailee Sarconi of Las Vegas, Travis Ussery of Longmont, Denise Ussery of Northglenn, and Parker Evans of Erie. She also leaves behind fun-loving cousins Shirley and Claudia of Houston and many more close friends and family across Colorado, Texas, and beyond who were touched by her warmth and exuberance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy "Sue" I. Travis and Don F. Travis of Denver.

Sherry Lynn Burgener lived boldly and loved deeply. Her laughter echoed through countless gatherings; her presence lit up every celebration. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her—and may we all carry forward a little bit of Sherry’s sparkle in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 28, 2026, from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM at Mickey's Top Sirloin 6950 Broadway. To honor Sherry's life, we ask you wear something red or Elvis-themed.
